Here is a recipe for white bread that has a crunchy crust, but a nice soft buttery inside that is amazing to have for breakfast with a nice warm drink.
Time: 2 hrs ~ (depends on rising time) Serves: 6 people
Ingredients
1 ¼ cups water
2 tablespoons butter at room temperature
1 teaspoon sugar
¾ teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon yeast
1 tablespoon flour (for yeast)
3 ¼ cups flour
Directions
Step 1
Mix the butter, sugar, and salt into warm water. Stir in 1 tablespoon flour and the yeast. Wait for 5 minutes for the yeast to bubble. If it doesn't, use new yeast.
Step 2
Add the flour in a large bowl stir in the yeast mix until a dough forms. Turn onto a floured surface and knead the dough. If the dough is too sticky add a little more flour at a time.
Step 3
Put the dough into a greased bowl and cover it with a clean damp towel and let rise until it has doubled in size. (depending on the humidity of your kitchen it may take longer or shorter)
Step 4
Punch down on the dough. Shape the dough into a log like shape and place it into a in greased loaf pan. If needed, fit it into the loaf pan. Allow it to rise again.
Step 5
Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 50 minutes. Enjoy!
