Serves: 12 cookies Time: 1hr

Plain, Chewy Cookies

Ingredients

  1. ½ cup granulated sugar

  2. ½ cup brown sugar

  3. ½ cup salted butter, melted

  4. 1 large egg

  5. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  6. 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour

  7. ½ teaspoon baking soda

Directions

Step 1

Brown the butter. In a small sauce pan, Add the butter and heat it on medium heat until it is brown in colour. Remove it from the heat.

Step 2

In a large bowl, whisk together the sugars, and butter until a smooth paste forms. Whisk in the egg and vanilla until incorporated into the mixture. Fold in the flour and baking soda. Put the dough in the fridge for a minimum of 30 minutes (the longer the better)

Step 3

Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 4

Roll the dough into balls and place onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet, spacing them out so they could properly spread evenly. Press the dough gently until it is about 1/2 its size.

Step 5

Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges have started to brown. Cool completely before serving. Enjoy!
